I don’t often harvest honey as I prefer to let the bees keep it, but if there is a major surplus, then I will take some frames, freeze them, and when I have enough, will do a harvest. So my honey is NEVER a particular blossom or flower, it is NOT Monofloral (i.e a type of honey which has a distinctive flavor or other attribute due to its being predominantly from the nectar of a single plant species) but is always just WILDFLOWER honey, i.e. Polyfloral (bees using nectar from many flower sources over an extended period of time).
I stopped using glass jars because that (to me) always seems the least hygienic way to keep honey – people are licking spoons, then dipping those spoons into the jars (spreading germs) and not only that, if someone rinses a spoon in water, and then dips it in without drying the spoon properly, those few drops of water that bounce into the honey jar can change the makeup of the honey and it can ferment or even make the honey go bad. With my BPA FREE, FOOD GRADE REUSABLE squeezy bottles, no utensil EVER touches the tip of the bottle, so it is 100% hygienic! And once the bottle is empty, you can reuse it for salad dressings, oils, condiments, all kinds of things – I specifically ONLY use Food Grade bottles, precisely so they can be reused safely. You can also use them for paints and arts and crafts of course! Maybe they don’t look as nice as glass jars, but glass jars are almost always thrown away and not reused – seems such a waste. I have various sizes, 5oz, 12oz, 15oz, 18oz and 22oz squeeze bottles. I print out different labels too – depending on my mood – for example, in honor of my precious foster dog Lulu (best dog in the world! Now adopted by AMAZING people who live down the road from me!!!) I made a Lulu honey Label (limited edition). Otherwise, the honey labels have photos of bees (my own photos), or other home made designs!!!
I sell TONS of bee-related items apart from honey – from key chains, to mugs, to signs, carrier bags, tote bags, clip boards, cosmetic bags, earrings, necklaces, socks, stencils, flags, stickers, decals, Orchid Bee Pods and Orchid Bee Clubs, as well as other things. If it’s bee-related, I probably have it!
My latest WOW-I-can’t-believe-I-didn’t-know-about-this-item is a plastic bee ladder or bee float, designed for your birdbath so that bees won’t drown!! I will be listing them on my marketplace soon.
That’s one of my favorite sayings! Came to me one day in the middle of doing an inspection!
My custom mugs have funny Bee Sayings! I have LOADS more!!!!! (not listed here)
